How Decoration Works

Decoration lets you attach special decoration materials to your gear, adding random bonus stats to the item. Think of it as enchanting — you consume a material, and the gear gains an extra stat line.

The bonus stats are random — you might get +ATK, +DEF, +HP, +Crit Rate, or other modifiers. The magnitude also varies. This is an RNG mechanic, so expect to use multiple decorations before landing a stat you're happy with.

IMPORTANT — Materials are consumed: Decoration materials are destroyed on use and cannot be recovered. If you decorate a piece of gear and later want the material back, it's gone forever. Only decorate gear you plan to keep.

Decoration Slot Limits by Rarity

Not all gear can hold decorations. The number of decoration slots depends on the item's rarity:

Item RarityDecoration SlotsNotes
Common0Cannot be decorated
Uncommon0Cannot be decorated
Rare1First tier with decoration access
Legendary2Double the customization potential
Immortal2Maximum for most players

Arcane and above also have decoration slots; consult community resources for the latest caps.

CRITICAL: Steam Market Warning

WARNING — Decorated stats are WIPED when listing on Steam Market! This is the single most important thing to know about decorations. If you decorate a piece of gear and then list it on the Steam Market, all decoration effects will be permanently removed. The buyer receives the base item without any of your applied decorations.

This means decorations create a hard split in your inventory between "keep forever" gear and "intended for sale" gear. Never decorate anything you might sell later. The 300g cost and the decoration material are both lost if the item eventually hits the market.

Decoration Strategy

Decorate Only These Items

  • Immortal+ gear you'll keep permanently. If you have an Immortal sword with perfect base stats for your main hero, that's a decoration candidate.
  • Endgame accessories. A high-rarity ring or amulet with strong base rolls is worth decorating since accessories are hard to replace.
  • Gear you've already engraved. If you've committed a permanent engraving to an item, you're already all-in. Adding decorations makes sense.

Never Decorate These Items

  • Anything you plan to sell on Steam Market. The decoration will be wiped. Don't waste materials.
  • Rare items (temporary gear). You'll replace Rare gear quickly. One decoration slot on a Rare item isn't worth the 300g + material cost.
  • Gear on heroes you frequently swap. If a hero is a placeholder until you unlock a better one, don't invest decorations in their gear.
Pro tip — Decorate before Engraving: Since decorations give random stats and engravings give fixed stats, it's better to decorate first. See what random bonuses you get, then use engravings to fill in the gaps. This avoids stacking redundant stats.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake #1: Decorating early-game gear. In the first 20+ hours, you replace gear constantly. Every decoration on a sub-Legendary item is a waste. Wait until you have gear you'll keep for at least a week.
Mistake #2: Decorating items listed for sale. If there's even a chance you'll sell an item on the Steam Market, do NOT decorate it. The stats will be wiped, and you lose everything. Keep a clear separation between "sale inventory" and "personal gear."
Mistake #3: Using rare decoration materials on mid-tier gear. High-quality decoration materials are scarce. Save the best ones for Immortal+ gear. Use common decoration materials on Legendary items if you must decorate below Immortal.
