The Ranger is TBH's reliable ranged damage dealer — not the flashiest class, but one that consistently delivers. With high attack speed, good crit scaling, and the safety of ranged positioning, the Ranger is an excellent third party member who deals steady damage without demanding attention.

The Ranger's strength is consistency. Unlike the Slayer's burst windows or the Sorcerer's cooldown management, the Ranger simply auto-attacks at high speed with high crit chance, dealing reliable damage from the safety of the backline. It's the "set it and forget it" DPS class.

Best Ranger Skills

Rapid Fire (Passive) — MAX FIRST

Permanently increases attack speed. This is your core scaling skill — more attacks per second means more damage, more crit opportunities, and more skill procs. Everything the Ranger does benefits from attack speed. Max this first, always.

Swift Surge (Active) — Priority 2

Temporarily boosts attack speed and movement for the Ranger. Best used for the burst combo: Swift Surge → spam auto-attacks → everything dies faster. Max after Rapid Fire for the pure single-target build.

Piercing Arrow (Active) — Priority 3

Fires an arrow that penetrates through multiple enemies in a line. Your best AoE tool. Take at least 1 point for wave clearing — more points if you're running the hybrid AoE build.

Scatter Shot (Active) — Hybrid Build Only

Fires multiple arrows in a spread, hitting several targets. Good for AoE but lower single-target DPS than focusing on Rapid Fire + Swift Surge. Use in the AoE hybrid build; skip for pure single-target.

Eagle Eye (Passive) — Priority 4

Passive crit rate increase. Good scaling stat but lower priority than attack speed — you need attack speed to trigger crits before crit rate matters. Invest after your core skills.

Best Ranger Build

Build 1: Pure Single-Target DPS (Recommended)

Skill Points Notes
Rapid FireMAXAttack speed is everything.
Swift SurgeMAXBurst window enabler.
Eagle EyeMAXPassive crit — free damage.
Piercing Arrow1 ptOne point for occasional AoE needs.
Scatter Shot0 ptsSkip — Piercing Arrow covers AoE well enough.

Build 2: AoE Hybrid

Take 1 point in Piercing Arrow early, then max Rapid Fire and Swift Surge. Add more points to Piercing Arrow if you find your party struggling with wave clear. This build sacrifices some single-target damage for better AoE, which can speed up farming stages with large monster packs.

Ranger Gear & Stats

Priority Stat Why
1Attack SpeedMore attacks = more damage + more crits + more everything. Best scaling stat.
2Crit RateWith high attack speed, crits trigger frequently. Aim for 40-50%.
3Crit DamageMakes those frequent crits hit harder. Stack after crit rate is comfortable.
4Attack PowerBase damage. Important but scales less efficiently than attack speed + crit.
5HPYou're squishy. Some HP on accessories prevents random one-shots from AoE.

Gear philosophy: Attack speed on every piece that can roll it. The Ranger's damage comes from volume of hits, not individual hit size. A weapon with +15% attack speed and moderate attack power outperforms a weapon with high attack power and no speed.

How to Play Ranger

Backline Safety

Place the Ranger in your formation's back row. With only 60 base HP, the Ranger cannot survive direct hits from bosses or elite mobs. Let your Knight or Slayer hold the front line while the Ranger fires safely from behind.

Boss Fights

The Ranger excels at single-target boss damage. Swift Surge + sustained auto-attack damage provides consistent pressure without the boom-or-bust nature of Slayer or Sorcerer. For bosses with damage reflection, the Ranger's moderate per-hit damage (compared to Slayer's nukes) means less self-damage from reflect mechanics.

Farming Efficiency

The Ranger's consistent damage makes it excellent for farming stages where you overgear the content. Fast attacks clear weak mobs quickly without overkill waste. For undergeared pushing, the Hunter's crowd control or the Sorcerer's burst may serve better.
